While our typical blog entries celebrate a successful project, or a wacky new character we’ve created… we’d like to use this entry to celebrate the life of a LifeFormations team member whose contributions to those successes were tragically cut short this past week.
Our friend, Adam Poor, has passed away. Adam worked in our small mechanisms department and specialized in creating the eye mechanism for our animatronic figures. For good reason, eyes are often called a window to the soul. The way they gaze at you, the emotion they convey, and the personality they project all work to communicate who a person is.
With such an important role, the performance of the eyes in an animatronic figure often must endure incredible scrutiny. Making the eyes’ appearance and movement realistic enough to hold up to that scrutiny is a daunting task that requires the perfect blend of technical finesse and emotional connection. To say the least, it takes a very talented and artistic craftsperson. Adam was able to achieve that level of technical quality and emotional interpretation very quickly in his tenure at LifeFormations. He was well on his way to becoming a master craftsman.
Despite his relatively young age, Adam’s work has been enjoyed by millions of people around the world. The figures on which he worked continue to tell stories, surprise audiences, and make people laugh. His current and future contributions to LifeFormations and the figures we create will be greatly missed.
As anyone who has been part of a successful team knows, you don’t replace a team member, you celebrate their contributions and try to recover from their loss…but the team is forever changed. In celebration of Adam Poor, LifeFormations will be making a donation to the family's chosen charity so that his legacy of enriching lives will continue in new ways.
You will be missed.
